Certainly you doesn’t weird when you hear that word, especially for Oppa Korean fans. Most of people say that Korea is famous in romantic drama and boyband. Usually Korean drama lovers are able to memorize many Korean names. They memorize it but do not understand about naming traditions. It is right ? I think most of your answer is “Yes”. Don’t worry let’s we learn about Korean names.

Do you know Who are they ? Yes they are Kim Soh-Yun and Lee Min-ho. Traditionally a Korean name has three syllables. The first syllable is the last name and the next two syllables are the first name. Kim and Lee as the surname or we can say that the family name. We are all very familiar with korean Family name such as Kim, Lee, Park and etc.  They named their children by family name in the last name to show that she is from Kim, Lee or Park family. The first example is Kim Soh-Yun from Kim family. The first name from Kim Soh-yun is “Soh-Yun”and the last name is “Kim”. The second example is Lee Min-Ho from Lee family. Korean women keep their family names after their marriage. They keep their surnames based on traditional reasoning that it is inherited from their parents and ancestors and cannot be changed. It means we can call Bae Su-Ji by her first name Mrs. Su-ji.  This is very different from Indonesia. Korean society claim that if we call the husband name to the wife it is an impolite act, but if they have children they can take the father’s surname.

YOUR NAME CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

            Do you know the meaning of your name ? If you don’t, please ask to your parents. After you have know about it, take a time to have a thought and ask yourself did your character suits with your name ? Your character determines your life and your life is depends on your character. Therefore, I can say that “Your name can change your life”.

            My name is Sonia Novelia. Honestly my name doesn’t have a meaning, but I love it and I prefer not to change my name.  Many people say  that Sonia is indian name, it means “Sayang”. They thought that my last name took from my mother’s hobby (she loves to read novel) while in fact, she doesn’t like it. My last name came from my birth month (November). I feel my life was suits with my name, because whenever people call my name, I really excited to hear that and feel like everyone loves me.

          

  The word “Name” can be interpreted as self  identity and prayer. I had prepared names for my children later. The names were formed by Arabic. The first name is “Azeera”, I choose this name because I was inspired by the name of my organization during on junior high school up to senior high school. Azeera is a combination of Arabic words which means goodness, perfection and usefulness. The middle name is “Fayyaza”, it means very much. The last name is “Al-khoir”, it means kindness. The meaningful of  “Azeera Fayyaza Al-khoir” is “someone who has noble character that provides many benefits of goodness” .I will give that name for my son. Furthermore, I also have a name for my daughter. The first name is “Zeera”, it has the same meaning  with Azeera. The middle name is “Halwah”, it means sweet or candy. The last  is “An-nisa”,  it means woman. The meaning of “Zeera Halwatu An-nisa” is “Someone who has noble character and sweet behavior as candy”. I hope my childrens’ names can built the character which suitable with their name.

In Indonesia Arabic names are most popular rather than english name, because the majority of Indonesians are muslims. Not only prepared Arabic names but also I prepared english names. I have three favorite names for male and female. The favorite names for male are: The first name is “Devian”, it means  humanity leader. The second name is “Aland”, it means bright like the sun. The third name is “aylward”, it means a virtuous protector. The last three favorite english names are for female. The first name is “Meida”, it’s mean a woman. The second name is “Razita”, its means rose. The third name is “Aiyana”, it means bloom all year long. Thats all my favorite names.
